More Iraqi refugees coming to U.S.

U S set to receive record number of Iraqi refugees by Sept 30

WASHINGTON — Earlier this month the U S State Department announced its latest contribution of 125 million to help provide protection and assistance to the growing number of displaced Iraqis scattered throughout the region The money will go towards improving access to education and healthcare services in addition to basic needs like food and clothing
However for some Iraqi refugees leaving home is not enough The millions of dollars seeping into Jordan Syria Lebanon and Egypt will not protect some refugees who put their lives in danger by working closely with Coalition forces For these people resettlement outside of the Middle East is their only option for safe haven
Two Iraqi refugees living in the Washington D C metropolitan area speak out about the horrors they faced in their home country and the challenges they have starting a new life in the United States
