Summer s a good time for fun with family and friends But sometimes there s something or someone missing from these activities Brad Feldman takes us to a week long summer camp helping children deal with these situations Sound - guy taking picture Its a moment this boy will never forget He s just one of fifty-seven kids taking part in a week long military camp Alyssa Beck Camper Like about survival and stuff These campers have one thing in common all of them know someone serving in the military Heidi Johnson Camper I think I will have it better because I know I will have some friends that went through it and give me advice 1st Sgt Rick Marschner 957 MRBC Give them the opportunity to come together meet other children that have military parents Give them the chance to bond and be around other kids that are in the same types of family situation that they are Marschner says its difficult for the soldier and the family when someone is deployed He knows first hand Marschner was deployed with the 957 Multi-Roll Bridge Company Rick Marschner 957 MRBC For me personally it was very comforting to know that there was family support back here and families were getting together helping each other That helped me get through the deployment because I knew my wife and children weren t alone Marschner says its camps like this one that let these children know even though their loved ones are overseas they still have someone here for them 1st Sgt Rick Marschner 957 MRBC With some of these children their parents are deployed so they don t have their parents at home to take them out on experiences like this So its the smiles and memories they make here that will help them face the bad times and the realities of war At Nelson lake Brad Feldman KX News This is the second annual Military Camp He says someday they d like to grow the camp and hold it at Camp Grafton
