Three at child care center caught with drugs

MARIJUANA THE SHANDIIN CHILD CARE CENTER ON THE BASE REMAINS CLOSED TODAY WHILE AN INVESTIGATION CONTINUES VALERIE CASTRO IS FOLLOWING THE CASE SHE S LIVE AT KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE WITH DETAILS IN OUR TOP STORY THOSE 3 EMPLOYEES HAVE BEEN FIRED AND ARE FACING CHARGES OF DRUG POSSESION ACCORDING TO BASE PERSONNEL AN ANONYMOUS TIP LED SECURITY TO THE DRUGS Two days ago we found 3 employees of this childcare center that shandin child development center with marijuana in their possession KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE OFFICIALS SAY SECURITY OFFICERS FOLLOWING AN ANONYMOUS PHONE TIP FOUND THE DRUGS INSIDE THE THREE EMPLOYEES CARS ALL THREE WERE FIRED AND BASE OFFICIALS ARE NOW INVESTIGATING I made the decision yesterday to close the child development center until we could fully investigate THE SHANDIIN CHILD CARE CENTER WATCHES UP TO 80 CHILDREN WHILE PARENTS WORK AT KIRTLAND SANDIA LABS AND THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY BASE OFFICIALS SAY A DRUG POLICY HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN PLACE BUT IT MAY HAVE NOT BEEN STRICT ENOUGH ALL OF THE DAY CARE WORKERS ARE NOW BEING TESTED FOR DRUGS In addition to the drug testing i ve asked for Shandiin to come back to me with a way to ensure the drug free environment that we have in the center maintains throughout THE CENTER TAKES CARE OF INFANTS AND CHILDREN UP TO 5 YEARS OLD BASE OFFICIALS SAY THEY DON T THINK THE CHILDREN WERE EVER EXPOSED TO THE DRUGS Based on a fairly thorough investigation up to this point we ve not found anything to indicate that there was contact with the children with any drugs up to now WHILE THE CENTER IS CLOSED PARENTS ARE HAVING TO MAKE OTHER ARRANGEMENTS FOR THEIR KIDS THERE S NO WORD ON WHEN IT WILL REOPEN LIVE AT KIRTLAND AIRFORCE BASE VC EWN 4
